Memorias de un pueblo pobre en lucha- Carlos (Taso) Zenón

$46.24 $32.37

320 pages. This book of memoirs is published during the last months of 2018, when Puerto Rico is facing the social and political effects of hurricane María, the collapse of the miserable colonial regime and the bankruptcy of public finances. It is not a History book even though it narrates the unpublished story of the brave actions by a couple of poor fishermen who provoked the exit from Puerto Rico of the imperialist United States Marines which was the Commonwealth's colonial regime's main support. This is the first volume of "Memorias...", narrated by Carlos Zenón, also known as Taso by those who know him. Taso has insisted in declaring that he holds himself responsible for the narrations, but the project (which includes a webpage) has been made possible by the constant work of Aleida Encarnación, his wife.

Editorial El Antillano is a collective composed of writers, researchers, cartoonists and graphic designers that specialize in graphic novels, illustration and stories for kids. Through our writings, we explore our common past, as well as the development of our nationality. Editorial El Antillano’s main objective is to educate; serve as a communicator of our stories and experiences through the application of fun formats that capture the attention of young people, that way we can motivate them to read, research and participate in the reality of our island. The first version of “Tai: el pequeño tayno” was distributed free in public schools in New York in the 70’s. We can imagine what importance this can have nowadays with the current migratory wave. There’s already more Puerto Ricans living outside of Puerto Rico than what we have in the island.
